Program of the adventure in Corfu:
1 day – Sofia – Kerkyra
Departure at 6 a.m. from st. C. Levski. Around 14 a.m., we'll take a ferry from Igoumenitsa.
We plan accommodation in a guest house, in the town of Sofia. Sidari.
Near Sidari is the "Channel of Love."
After check-in, we can take a walking tour to see the sights in the area. The route passes through several points with beautiful landscapes, sunset over the sea, several nice beaches...
This will be the time to choose a nice tavern for dinner and sweet rest.
Day 2 – Kayaking “The Channel of Love”
After morning coffee and breakfast, around 9.00 a.m. we will head to the beach of Sidari. If the weather situation allows there we will prepare the kayaks for transition. We will make a mandatory briefing, training and formation of the crews. The route will pass through a bunch of sights. Our first stop will be on the so-called “Channel of Love”. Limestone rocks form small coves and an isthmus with crystalline water. According to legend, if two lovers swim together in the canal, they will love each other forever...
Next is a spectacular coastline formed by steep cliffs and caves. There is the unforgettable Cape Drastis. We'll walk past half a dozen nice beaches, some of which we'll take a break from. In the village of Agio Stefanos we can eat. Before the final of the kayaking for the day there will be more caves, noses and great beaches.
The clean kayaking time is about 3 hours, a hike of about 7.5 nautical miles.
Day 3 - kayaking from Arilas to Paleokastritsa
Our kayaking on this day will start from the beautiful sandy beach of Arilas, located to the north of Paleokastritsa. We are about to land on many breathtaking beaches and places, such as Pirate Beach and Porto Timoni, Agios Giorgos (natural oasis, awarded with the Blue Flag award with crystal waters and green mountains), the beaches under the fortress and the monastery, also the bay of St. Spyridon.
The transition for the day is about 8 miles or 3 hours.
Once we get home, there will be time again for walks and sightseeing.
4 day - kayaking Paleokastritsa - "Paradise Beach"
This day it is possible to go out on water relatively later (about 10 a.m.).
We expect a hike again along fabulously beautiful natural landmarks is crystal clear waters.
We will pass by a dozen small picturesque beaches and caves until we reach the inaccessible by land Homi, Kamari and Stellari. Again, we will enjoy the colors of the sea, which overflow from transparent, through turquoise, to deep blue.
Our hike will be relatively shorter, so that after lunch, which wishes to be able to tour more of the dozens of sights on the island. We can make a walking tour to Angelokastro (Angel Fortress), from where an incredibly beautiful panoramic view is revealed. At this high point there is a cafe, and in the village under the castle taverns.
Day 5 – Explore Corfu by Land
This is a day off when everyone can decide what they want to look at. Under the program we will go by car to the capital of the island of Corfu, where there is something to see.
The central city of Corfu is also called Kerkyra. According to legend, the god Poseidon fell in love with the nymph Kerkyra and kidnapped her to an uninhabited island, which he named to her. Corfu is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Its architecture is very diverse because over the centuries the island has belonged to many empires and countries and each has left its mark.
Built between two fortresses and surrounded by the sea, the old historic town is romantic and mystical. It is the largest medieval complex in Greece. There are Byzantine churches, Venetian stairs and many fountains. Among the larger attractions of the city are Spianada Square and the Church of St. Spyridon. Other famous sites are the museum of Asian art, the Church of England, the Archaeological Museum, the palace “St. Mihail and Georgi”, The New and Old Fortresses. Not far away is the old capital of Canoni
Among the other interesting places you can see are optionally: Mount Pantokrator. There from over 900 meters above sea level you can admire great panoramas; the “dead” village of Peritea; Aquapark, the southern parts of the island, etc. (for this purpose it is possible to rent a motorbike or a car).
6 day: Corfu – Sofia
We plan to depart from the campsite early, a ferry and return to Sofia again around 20 a.m.
