About This Adventure

A 7-day sea adventure around the pearls of the Ionian Sea. Explore the coastlines of mythical Ithaca and majestic Cephalonia by kayak, discovering hidden caves, pristine beaches, and charming fishing villages. A journey through the waters that Odysseus himself once sailed.

Program

Day 1: Sofia – Vasiliki – Sammy (Kefalonia)
Departure: Very early start from Sofia to catch the afternoon ferry from Vasiliki./fiscardo
Logistics: . Accommodation in the campsite "Karavomilos" (right next to Sami) – ideal for starting with kayaks.
Evening: Preparing luggage in the kayaks.
Day 2: Alone – South Ithaca (The Strait)
Route: Rowing from Sammy to the east/northeast. You cross the strait to the southernmost nose of Ithaca (Agios Ioannis).
Highlight: Andri Beach – wild, isolated and perfect for the first night of Ithaca. The area is deserted and very clean.
Day 3: The South Coast – Vati
Route: Rowing north along the east coast.
Stop: Entering the deep natural fjord of the capital Vati.
Evening: Walk through the narrow streets of Vati, dinner in a tavern and recharge with water. Possibility to sleep in a bay near the entrance to the port.
Day 4: Vati – Kioni (East Coast)
Route: Continue north along the most beautiful part of the island.
Highlights: Gidaki and Filiatro beaches (crystalline water, white pebbles). Final in the magical village of Kioni.
Overnight: A beavary in one of the small bays between Friquez and Kyoni.
Day 5: The North Rainbow (Aphales) – West Bank
Route: Bypassing the northern end of Ithaca.
Highlight: Afales Bay. This is the most impressive place on the island with high white cliffs.
Challenge: You start descending south along the west coast. This coast is more open and steep.
Day 6: The Western Wall – Crossing to Kefalonia
Route: Rowing south along the canal between Kefalonia and Ithaca.
Finish of the rowing: (the area of Antisamos beach or directly to Sammy).
Evening: Last evening meeting in Sammy.
Day 7: Sami – Vasiliki – Sofia
Logistics: Boarding the morning ferry from fiscardo to Vasiliki.

Requirements

reasonable fitness, minimum age 16. Physical fitness required — expect approximately 15-20 km of kayaking per day.
